Yes, if you want to benefit from the advantages, you must have a valid GlarnerlandPass with you. It is particularly important that you have the GlarnerlandPass with you when using public transport, be it train, bus or Braunwald funicular railway. Otherwise you risk a fine of up to CHF 100. The GlarnerlandPass is handled in the same way as a regular public transport ticket, which you must also carry and show upon request.
The GlarnerlandPass is valid either in the app or as a PDF. You can obtain the GlarnerlandPass from your accommodation. If you want to use the pass on arrival and have not yet received it via e-mail, please contact your accommodation so that they can send it to you in good time.
All guests who stay one night or more in the canton of Glarus and pay the individual guest tax will receive the GlarnerlandPass from their accommodation. If you would like the GlarnerlandPass but have not received it, please contact your accommodation.
They will then need an e-mail address from you to send you the registration form. Ideally, you should apply for the GlarnerlandPass before you arrive so that you can benefit from the very first day. Please contact your accommodation no earlier 3 days before your arrival if they do not contact you themselves.
The GlarnerlandPass for overnight guests is valid from the day of arrival to the day of departure.
Your host can send you a self-check-in link by e-mail before your arrival date so that you and any accompanying persons can make the most of the offer.
No, it's best to use the GlarnerlandPass app directly.
In most cases, you will receive the GlarnerlandPass by e-mail. You can then import it directly into the app. If you would still like to receive it as a PDF, you still have the option of printing it out or simply saving it on your mobile phone.
Information for group GlarnerlandPasses: These cannot be imported into the app. You can either print out the pass or use it as a PDF on your mobile phone.
There are different ways:
- Import link in e-mail: After your registration form has been entered by your accommodation or via the self-check-in form, you will receive an e-mail with the GlarnerlandPass max. 7 days before arrival. This e-mail contains a direct import link. If you have already installed the app, you can import the pass directly.
- Guest profile: Have you registered yourself using the self-check-in form and used your guest profile? In this case, your GlarnerlandPasses are saved in your profile. Log in to the app and your passes will be imported automatically.

- Import code on PDF: You have a PDF of the GlarnerlandPass. You will find the import code under the QR code, which you can then import directly into the Wallet in the GlarnerlandPass app.

Information for group GlarnerlandPasses: These cannot be imported into the app. You can either print out the pass or use it as a PDF on your mobile phone.
No, unfortunately this is not possible as the Group GlarnerlandPass works differently to the GlarnerlandPasses for individuals. You can either print out the pass or use it as a PDF on your mobile phone.
-
Check your procedure again:
Did you open the import link on the device where the app is installed?
Did you really copy the import code correctly?
When importing manually, did you really enter your surname and only your surname?
Are you logged in with the correct profile? -
Try to close everything completely and try again.
-
Check your passport:
Do you have the latest version of your passport or have there been any changes after you entered your initials? E.g. date of departure, fellow travellers, etc.?
If so, you may not have the latest version, ask your accommodation if they can send you the e-mail with the latest version again.
-
If you are logged in to the app, any changes that the accommodation makes to the registration form (e.g. travel period, cancellations, etc.) should be applied directly. Have a little patience. If it doesn't happen, try importing the pass again via the manual import or via the import link in the email, this should also trigger the update.
-
If you are not logged in, you should import the passport again using the manual import code or the import link in the email after making changes to your travel details in the registration form. The accommodation should send you a new email with the updated passports every time there is a change in the system. If this has not happened, please contact your accommodation so that they can issue them again.
You can easily log on via the home screen of the app:

No, for dogs and other chargeable items, the standard Ostwind conditions apply.
For groups travelling with more than 10 people, SBB requires reservations.
Especially for groups travelling by bus, transport cannot be guaranteed without a reservation, as transport capacity is limited.
For reservations within the canton of Glarus:
Reservations can be made online on the SBB website or at a ticket counter or by telephone (SBB Contact Centre 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.)) Important when booking online: You need a SwissPass login, which anyone can apply for. In addition, guests with a guest card must simply state that they have a GA travelcard so that no fare is charged.

For reservations with ticket purchase outside the canton of Glarus:
In order to benefit from the group discount, the group journey must be booked at least 2 working days before departure.
For groups with the GlarnerlandPass who only require a ticket to Ziegelbrücke but the reservation to the destination, please purchase the reservation and the public transport ticket at a public transport sales point or via the SBB Contact Centre on 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min.) and refer to the GlarnerlandPass.
This applies to groups travelling with the Group GlarnerlandPass and therefore only have one pass with the number of people written on it.
For the Braunwald funicular railway, the GlarnerlandPass must be presented at the ticket counter. You will then receive the appropriate number of tickets so that you can all pass through the turnstile.
For all individual travellers with personal GlarnerlandPasses, the turnstile can be passed directly with the GlarnerlandPass by scanning the QR code.
We would like to point out that in individual cases, GlarnerlandPass emails sent from the systems may not be successfully delivered to the guest. The system manufacturer is working on this and will change the email service in 2026, which will hopefully reduce the rate of failure.
Common reasons for failed email deliveries can be:
- The host has not triggered the GlarnerlandPass dispatch or has not yet entered you in the system.
- Incorrect or incorrectly entered email address: Even a small typo on the part of the host can cause emails to go astray. According to evaluations by AVS, this is the most common source of error.
- Full email inbox: If the recipient's inbox is full, the message cannot be accepted.
- Spam or junk filters: Emails may be incorrectly marked as spam and moved to the corresponding folder or automatically deleted. Unfortunately, this is not uncommon with system emails.
- Email address no longer valid or deactivated
- Technical problems or settings with the email provider
- Spam filters, virus scanners and security settings in company networks or on smartphones
- Blocking of the sender address or domain
Important note: Unfortunately, neither we nor AVS have any influence on most of the circumstances mentioned. Technical responsibility for receiving emails lies with the recipient – we therefore cannot accept any liability for undelivered messages. If you have not received an email and would like to use the GlarnerlandPass, please contact your accommodation, the nearest tourist information office or info@glarnerland.ch. In order to use the GlarnerlandPass, you must be able to present it.
What can you do?
- Contact your host and ask whether the pass has been issued or whether they can issue it to you.
- Check your spam folder.
- Check that your email address is correct.
- Ask your host to send it again.
- If you still do not receive the email, ask your host to download the GlarnerlandPass as a PDF from the system and send it to you manually by email. You can then still import it into the GlarnerlandPass app wallet using the code under the QR code.
