How it works:
Are you a second home owner or long-term tenant in the canton of Glarus and do you pay an annual flat-rate guest tax?
Then you can apply for your GlarnerlandPass directly from us. Anyone who pays a flat-rate guest tax (e.g. owners or long-term tenants of holiday homes) is entitled to obtain the Glarnerlandpass together with their family members (in accordance with the Tourism Act, Section 3, Articles 9+10). Once we have received your application, we will review it and activate your passes as quickly as possible so that you can start exploring right away. Please note that the activation process can take up to 14 days.

The GlarnerlandPass for second home owners and long-term tenants is a purely digital product and part of the GlarnerlandPass app. Install the app so that you can integrate the pass and benefit from the advantages. The app also serves as a source of inspiration for travel information, current events and information about everything there is to see in the Glarnerland region. Please note that you may need to briefly update the app in the App Store if you have already installed it, so that you have the latest version on your mobile phone.
Frequently asked questions
All overnight guests in the canton of Glarus are entitled to receive the GlarnerlandPass as a guest card. We distinguish between tourist overnight guests (short-term stays) and permanent tenants/second home owners (long-term stays and holiday home/apartment owners).

Those paying the flat-rate guest tax can request the GlarnerlandPass directly using the VISIT Glarnerland application form.
Anyone who pays a flat-rate guest tax (e.g. owners or long-term tenants of holiday homes) is entitled to obtain the Glarnerlandpass together with their family members (in accordance with the Tourism Act, Section 3, Articles 9+10). Once we have received your application, we will review it and activate your passes as soon as possible so that you can start exploring right away. Please note that you must register guests in your accommodation who are not direct family members separately and pay the individual guest tax for them.
Are you a permanent tenant or second home owner in the canton of Glarus and do you pay flat-rate guest taxes in one of the three municipalities? If so, you can apply for the GlarnerlandPass as a guest card for yourself and your family members (relatives as defined in the Tourism Act, Section 3, Art. 9+10). Please note that you must register guests in your accommodation who are not immediate family members separately and pay individual guest taxes for them.
To do so, please fill out the corresponding application form.
We will then review your application and activate the GlarnerlandPass for you and your family members as soon as possible. Please note that the review process can take up to 14 days. You will receive the pass by email as soon as you register and can download it to the GlarnerlandPass app.
If you have already submitted an application for the GlarnerlandPass but would like to add additional persons, please enter the additional person as the main person on the application form and note the owner under ‘Comments’.
The GlarnerlandPass is issued for one year and is valid from 1 January to 31 December. The pass must be reapplied for each subsequent year.
Once we receive your application, we will check your details with the local authorities. If you are eligible for the GlarnerlandPass, we will activate the pass and you can start enjoying the benefits. The process can take up to 14 days. If the pass has not been activated after 14 days and you have not heard from us, please contact us so that we can help you. You can import the pass into the GlarnerlandPass app as soon as you receive the confirmation email, but you can only use it once we have activated it. If your application is rejected, we will notify you by email.
No, the GlarnerlandPass for second home owners & long-term tenants is a purely digital product and can only be used via the GlarnerlandPass app.
After you have submitted the application form for the GlarnerlandPass, you will receive an email with all the information. Once you have received the email, you can import the pass into the app. It will then be automatically activated as soon as we have checked and confirmed* your application.
There are several ways to add your pass to the app:
- Guest profile: Did you use your guest profile to register? In this case, your GlarnerlandPasses are stored in your profile. Log in to the app and your passes and those of your companions will be imported automatically.

- Import link in email: The email contains a direct import link. If you have already installed the app on your mobile phone, you can import your passport and the passports of your companions directly.
- Import code in email: If you do not want to have all passports on your mobile phone or want to send your companions their own passports, the import codes are included in the email. Each family member can manually import their own passport onto their own mobile phone using their surname and the import code.

*The confirmation process can take up to 14 days. If the pass has not been activated by then and you have not heard anything else, please contact VISIT Glarnerland directly.
